Victoria Falls Hotel Overview:

For almost 100 years, visiting members of Royal families, international and local statesmen, and celebrities worldwide, have preferred to stay at The Victoria Falls Hotel, where they are assured of privacy and care. An atmosphere steeped in history, combining the charm of the old with the comfort and convenience of today.

It is one hotel that can truly claim to be unique

Established in 1904, The Victoria Falls Hotel is set in The Victoria Falls National Park with a private path to the Victoria Falls. The elegant lounges offer serenity and seclusion.
Corridors reflect all the past glories of the Empire and suites and rooms are superbly furnished in Edwardian-style. The Courtyard entrance overlooks lily ponds, lush flowering shrubs and palm trees.

Dinner and Dining:

Elegant dinner and dancing with a classic á la carte menu. As a result of many requests from visitors, The Victoria Falls Hotel has decided to relax aspects of the long-standing dress code in force in its premier dining venue, The Livingstone Room. This is in recognition of the fact that many travelers do not bring with them the more formal clothes that have until now been mandatory in this restaurant. Smart casual wear will now be acceptable in The LivingstoneRoom at dinner each evening. The fine silver-service dining experience that visitors have come to expect will continue to be the order of the day, however.

The Jungle Junction:

During the late 1940's, the Solent Flying Boat service, offered by Imperial Airways, became one of the more interesting ways to travel to Africa. This service flew from Southampton, England to Johannesburg, South Africa. The Solents landed and were serviced on a reach of the Zambezi above the Victoria Falls. This stopover became known as the "Jungle Junction" and was soon the favourite stop on the route, as all passengers disembarked and stayed at The Victoria Falls Hotel.
Breakfast and dinner buffets with Makishi dancers and an indigenous choir entertaining every night.

Tea on the Terrace:

Traditional high tea is served every afternoon on the Terrace, with spectacular views of the Victoria Falls bridge down the Batoka Gorge with the spray rising from The Falls. Later, enjoy one of the hotel's famous Livingstone cocktails or a gin and tonic whilst listening to the mighty roar of the Falls.

The Edwardian Pool:

Cool off and enjoy the splendor of our glorious Edwardian swimming pool set among beautiful landscaped gardens, overlooking the famous Victoria Falls bridge with panoramic views.

Private path to the falls:

David Livingstone, intrepid explorer, sighting the Falls for the first time from his dugout canoe, in November 1855, could hardly believe his eyes at such a spectacle. It is widely accepted that it was he who brought the discovery to the rest of the world; the Falls were named after his Queen Empress, Victoria.

Recreational facilities:

There are two all-weather, floodlit tennis courts on site. A full range of other sports is available nearby, including an 18-hole, championship golf course at Elephant Hills Intercontinental (5 minutes drive from The Victoria Falls Hotel), Casino located at the Kingdom Hotel (5 minutes walk from The Victoria Falls Hotel); white water rafting; bungee jumping; canoeing; microlighting; game walks and drives; elephant back safaris; helicopter flights over the Falls and cruises on the Zambezi.

Services:

Same day laundry service, disabled accommodation, car hire and touring desks, baby-sitting services, packed breakfasts & lunches for guests taking day excursions, hair salon, beauty therapist offering massage and a variety of other pampering beauty treatments, doctor on call, library and reading rooms, foreign exchange facilities, business centre for photocopying/facsimile and telex, E-Lounge for access to the Internet, 2 Curio Shops - one specialising in colonial memorabilia.

Wildlife:

Enthusiasts can experience a selection of the area's wildlife on foot, by vehicle, in boats along the ZambeziRiver, on horseback - and even on an elephant. A Vintage train excursion, canoe safari, flight of the angels helicopter ride or visit to a traditional African Village all provide memorable experiences for travelers who especially want to complement the enjoyment of seeing The Victoria Falls. For the more adventurous there is white water rafting, bungee jumping and the Gorges Swing on offer!
The Victoria Falls rainforest is only a 10-minute walk from the hotel.

Weddings and Honeymoons:

The Victoria Falls Hotel is a delightfully romantic setting for weddings and honeymoons. From the charming little in-house chapel to the luxurious Honeymoon Suites, this hotel is a bride and groom's delight. Wedding guests and honeymooners are given sparkling wine, Belgian chocolates, red roses and a fresh fruit platter on arrival, with a champagne breakfast served in the privacy of their rooms. Specially chosen gifts from the hotel are offered to wedding couples and honeymooners on their first night.
The Chapel is available for private ceremonies and weddings. Outdoor receptions can be organised in the hotel's gardens with views overlooking The Victoria Falls Bridge.

Conference:

The Centenary Room is available for meetings for a maximum of 20 people. The room is set up in boardroom style and is for use by in-house guests only. This room is also available for small executive meetings and private dining.
